The magnificent Gloucester Guildhall was built in 1890-1892 and was designed by architect George H. Hunt for Gloucester City Council. When council use ceased in the late-1880’s, the upper floors were converted into an arts centre. The imposing oak-panelled former council chamber was converted into a 150 seat cinema. It opened in April 1988 and screens art house films. Another room has now been added as a 100 seat cinema.
