Bellevue Drive-In 1955

The Bellevue Drive-In was owned and operated by Malco Theaters. It was opened by 1951, and closed in about 1984. It was a reportedly a favorite hangout of the young Elvis Presley in the 1950’s. He is said to have spent his last night before joining the Army at the Bellevue Drive-In. There is no trace of the Bellevue Drive-In today.

Living only 3 blocks from the Bellevue Drive-In we walked to the movies many a summer night there. Unfortunately it was demolished and is now occupied by a church.

The Google map indicator is off by a mile or two. The Bellevue Drive-In was located near Guasco and 51/Bellevue/Elvis Presley

No trace of the Bellevue remains. For directional purposes, the address would now be 2350 Elvis Presley Blvd.

New research shows the Bellevue open as early as 1951.

Elvis supposedly went to see the movie, Sing Boy Sing, at a drive in a night or two before going into the Army. If that is indeed the movie he saw, it wasn’t at the Bellevue but instead at the Lamar Drive In, or so I think as I recall when I looked at newspaper microfilm for the ads.
