The twin screen theatre was orginally built as a Jerry Lewis Cinema. Name was changed to Village Cinema before construction was completed. Two new small auditoriums were later added bringing it to four screens.
A local independent owner operated the theatre into the 1990’s before closing it after purchasing the larger eight screen Hardy Court Cinema. It operated as a nightclub for a short time before it was demolished.

This theatre was never actually known as Jerry Lewis Cinema. Before construction was completed on the theatre it was decided to call it the Norwood Village Cinema. It was locally known as just the Village Cinema. This was one of the best maintained and operated theatres in this area. It was family owned and operated.
A Wendy’s Hamburger Restaurant now occupies the old site of the Village Cinema.
