The Buffalo Theatre opened was opened in 1921 by E.E. Ryan. It was purchsed from the Ryan family in 1960 by Milan Steele, who at that time also owned the Lakeside Drive-In.

Miss Melba, what is the theatre building used for today or what is in the old theatre building?

Chuck:
Last I heard this theatre was vacant, never converted to any other use. There used to be posted on this page an excellent photograph snapped by Don Lewis. Wonder why it has been removed?

Way to go Don, thanks for posting the photo link. I was wondering what happened to the old link also.

Which reminds me Chuck are you going to be able to recover your vast theater photo and information database?

Most of the theatres were on floppy discs and I am slowly getting things onto the new computer. I have been going through all my boxes of theatre info little by little and adding everything back to my computer but it is sure a slow procedure. I am trying though.

So the tiled roof structure and niches on either side of the upper facade were added after the 1987 photo was taken? Wonder if it was part of a downtown improvement initiative?

The Cinema Section of Roadside Oklahome is closed, they no longer have theatre photos according to the site. Go to their home page for further details.
