Located in Latonia the south of Covington. Having been in and out of the general area where this theatre still stands, I’m amazed that I never noticed it before. It’s been nicely preserved, with the "KENTUCKY" sign still running vertically down the front of what can only have been a movie theatre at one time.
The Kentucky Theatre was opened on July 1, 1939 with Penny Singleton in “Blondie Meets the Boss”. It was the third theatre to be operated by Louis Weithe who supervised its construction. He also operated the Derby Theatre, also in Latonia and the Bond Theatre in Cincinnati. The Kentucky Theatre was still open in 1957.

Why does it say Latonia instead of Covington on the photos?
Latonia is part of Covington. I entered it the first time as Latonia, but it disappeared. I figured that might have been the reason.
OK, thanks for clearing that up. My knowledge of Kentucky geography is limited.
I pass this local Art Deco diamond every time I visit family in Kentucky. Clearly it’s been repurposed but sometimes the interior can remain intact. These neighborhoods are slowly attracting young professionals. Is there any news regarding the status of the interior and it’s potent to return to showing films?
This theater is apartments upstairs and empty offices downstairs at this time and has been for many many years. I rented there in 1989 and my daughter lived there just 3 years ago.
The Kentucky theatre opened as “The Theatre of Tomorrow” on July 1st, 1939. Grand opening ad posted.
