Cinemark Bistro Raleigh

Opened with great fanfare on May 15, 1998, the Raleigh Grande Cinema was a grand showplace for great entertainment. Making it the second area megaplex to open in the Raleigh area. Located at 4840 Grove Barton Road near the intersections with Lynn Road near Glenwood Avenue (U.S. 70).

Originally owned and operated under the Charlotte based Consolidated Theatres, it was taken over by the Charlotte based Carolina Cinemas chain in 2008. The lobby area was huge and the auditoriums all have stadium seating and had the latest Dolby-surround sound.

The cinema is under new management that is owned and operated by Cinemark Corporation which took acquisition from Carolina Cinemas in 2016. All auditoriums have stadium searing and are equipped with the latest Dolby Digital surround sound. The main lobby is huge, with two concession stands along with online ticketing for advance screenings and other amenities. The cinema runs independent and foreign released as well as first run showings and exclusive engagements.

Carolina Cinemas took it over in 2008, but as of 2011, The Consolidated Theatres sign is still on its marquee.

Don’t know when this happened, but Cinemark has turned the Raleigh Grande into its dine-in “Bistro” concept. It is now called “Cinemark Bistro Raleigh” as of 2023.
