The Boomerang Theatre opened on December 10, 1924. In 1933 the building was redesigned in an Art Deco style by architect Archibald Tathan Longland.

The Boomerang Theatre closed in January of 1995 as the Boomerang 4-plex. It was demolished in September 1995. This was a Heritage listed building.
