Jade Theatre

The Jade Theatre was situated in Causeway Bay on the Hong Kong Island. Its ticket booth and lobby was originally on the ground floor of the theatre building with the auditorium entrance on the first floor. After a short while, the lobby and ticket booth were moved to the covered terrace on the first floor, while the original theatre lobby was converted into shops.

The theatre opened to business on 24th December 1969, and showed first-run Chinese language films until it closed for renovation on 1st January 1992.
The Jade Theatre re-opened on 24th September 1992 as a 463-seat mini theatre in the former balcony section. The stalls section of the theatre with the adjacent Pearl Theatre were converted into restaurants.

It closed on 6th September, 1998.
The Jade Theatre with the adjacent Pearl Theatre were refurbished as a new theatre with two auditoriums.

Jade had been the jewel of the crown for the Shaw circuit (SB) since it opened for business. It had been in the top-10 for gate receipts during most of its years before 1992.
