LM, I certainly agree with you on this one. Now that this one is cleared up we can move onto the next one.

Chuck….The Greene Theater is still listed in 1955 with 300 seats. It’s possible that the Crystal and the Greene are one in the same theater. Looking at the information that Joe posted, 1955-56 could have been the last year for the Greene Theater.

LM, I didn’t find anything on the Greene Theatre, but as you say it was probably the Greene sometime in there. I guess it went from theatre to retail to the Medical Clinic, it has had its share of variety.

Here’s an item datelined Greene, Iowa, from the May 11, 1957, issue of Boxoffice Magazine: “Mr. and Mrs. Russell Meyers have purchased the theatre building here from Floyd Ramker, local building contractor, and will move the Gamble store to the theatre location as soon as extensive remodeling is completed.”

The Crystal Theater is listed in 1935 with 300 seats. In 1940 there is a 300 seat Greene Theater listed. Possibly a later name?
