Skyline Drive-In

Viewing: Photo | Street View

The Skyline Drive-In was opened in June 1950 with a capacity of 600 cars. Located on Natural Bridge Road across from Lambert Field, the drive-in operated until January 1960. The land was then used for an expansion of the airport.

The theatre was built and operated by Ray Parker who leased it to Herbert Hartstein in 1958. It was Labor Day 1958 when the theatre’s screen was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. The audience saw firemen at work instead of a movie that evening. It was thought the venue might not reopen as it was known Lambert Field would be expanding onto the site, but it did reopen in October and operated another year or so.

Approx. location for this drive-in was about a block north of 10895 Lambert International Boulevard. The part of the airfield at that location was where the drive-in stood.
