This was a segregated theater. A photo circa 1940 can be seen below. The Gem Theater was still operating in 1950.

When you say this was a segrated theatre was this specifically for Blacks?

In checking the Arkansas Historical magazine this was an African American Theatre.

The Gem Theatre opened in 1940 – closed in 1969.
