Sceen Drive-In

The Hi-Vue Drive-In opened on April 5, 1956. This was a single screen ozoner but no car capacity was listed. Later operating as an XXX Rated drive-in, it sold itself that way with advertisements like ‘Husbands invite your Wives on Tuesday and they get in Free’.

One site says it is now a cemetary and one says a golf course. It was operated by Midstates Theatres from 1966 until closing in the mid-1980’s.

The drive-in site is now a golf driving range. The screen tower is still standing with green siding on all sides.

I’m researching the history of Michigan drive-in theaters and would be very interested in hearing from anyone who remembers the Hi-Vue/Sceen theater. If you were or are a resident of Durand, a former patron of the theater, or an ex-employee who would like to share your stories, please contact me.
