The Sun Picture gardens appeared in the Australian tv series(The Amazing Race Australia series 6(last episode)).

No flooding anymore, since the levees were built in Broome(1980’s?).

The first sound movie shown here was “Monte Carlo”(made in 1930) in 1933. Sun Pictures may be the only picture theatre in tne World to get(tidal?) flooding outside the theatre building?

There will be some Walk of fame plaques unvaled in front of the Sun Pictures building on 26/8/2017 at 4.00pm before the main celebrations from 7.30pm to midnight.

Sun Pictures appears briefly at the begining of the film “Bran Nue Dae”! There has been a stage production of Bran Nue Dae at Sun Pictues! There may have been other theatre preformances(plays, mudicials etc) at Sun Pictures?

The other opening film was a Bachelor Brown Comic. Digital projectors were installed in 2012. Placed on the State Register of Heritage places in 1995. The store was bought in 1913 for film use by master pearler Ted Hunter.

Sun Pictures is now 100 years old(9/12/16)!! It is the first outdoor theatre in the World to turn 100 years old!! There is a free movie screening(at 6.45pm, Australian Western Standard Time) of the movie “Elf” for current and past owners and the public!! Unknown if any other celebrations are planned?

There is a book about Sun Pictures called “Reflections of The Sun” by Maria Mann released in 1991(out of print now i think?). There is also a novel set at Sun Pictures, called “Nights in the sun” by Colin Bowles.

The official theatricial premiere of the Australian film Bran Nue Dae was held at Sun Pictures on 8/12/2009. The World premiere was held at the Melbourne International Film Festival(closing night) on 8/8/2009. The original building(general store) that is now Sun Pictures opened in 1903. Sun Pictures has it own page on Wikipedia.

The Sun Picture Gardens was seen briefly on the Australian tv version of Guinness Book of Records(in 2004?),mentioning it’s world record. the Picture Gardens also appeared on Postcards W.A.,and Getaway.

The Sun Picture Gardens appear at the begining of the Australian movie Bran Nue Dae(set in 1969),the gardens may also have appeared in the background of the Australian children’s television series Lucky Star in one or more episodes filmed at Broome!!
