The Carousel Cinema 6 was opened by Edwards Cinemas on May 18, 1984. It was closed in 2000 and demolished in 2002. There is a charter school at this location now. Some listings show the theater at 1868 E. Valley Parkway as well.

This theater has definitely been demolished. You can see it if you look at http://www.historicaerials.com and compare the 1989 aerial to the 2003/2005 aerial.
“The Rocketeer” was presented at the Edwards Carousel in 35mm Dolby Stereo beginning on Friday June 21, 1991.
The original operator was American International Theatres (AIT). Edwards acquired it (and other area venues) in 1985.
MSC77 – You are absolutely correct. AIT, by the way, was an upstart chain started by John Ellison, a former Mann Theatres DM. AIT built this theatre and it was considered a state-of-the-art, top-quality facility at the time. Unfortunately for AIT, many other new screens also opened in North County then (including the UA8 in Escondido).
This opened on May 18th, 1984. Grand opening ad posted.
