Grand Palais Cinema

Originally the New King’s Hall, it was converted into the Imperial Picture Palace in 1911, and closed in 1923. There was a billard hall in the basement. It became a Yiddish theatre and was re-named Grand Palais Theatre, also in use as a banquet hall. It became a full time Yiddish theatre in 1935, and continued until 1970.

The basement was then converted into a disco, and the Grand Palais began screening gay feature films. Later in the 1970’s, it was re-named Bngla Desh Cinema Hall screening Asian films.

In 2008, the building is in use by Flick Fashions.
