Frank Bruton took over the Alamance Theatre in 1950 and held a contest to rename the slightly remodeled theater. J. Frank Turnstall suggested the Town Theatre and was declared the winner. The Town ran six years making it to the end of the initial completion of 4.5 year lease and then a bit more. The Town launched March 19, 1950 with “Lost Boundaries.”
