Govindas Cinema & Restaurant

Located in the inner city Darlinghurst/Kings Cross area of Sydney. Govindas Cinema & Restaurant has been operating since at least 2001. Seating is provided on comfortable ‘lay-back’ cushions, and it is advertised as ‘the world’s most comfortable cinema’. The cinema has 35mm projectors, and films tend to be up-market recent releases, independents and classics.

It is operated by the Hare Krishna movement, and the 120-seat restaurant is vegetarian. The three booking options are for dinner only, a combined movie/dinner package, and movie only. Programmes of seperate different films screen twice nightly Monday-Friday, with three seperate different choices of programme on Saturday and Sundays. Diners receive preferential bookings for the cinema seating.

Always busy, this funky concept caters mainly for the young and trendy.
