Gem Theatre

Hillsborough, NC 27278

The Gem Theatre was located in the West Hillsborough district, about 2 miles west of the historic downtown.

The Gem Theatre was originally known as the Hollywood Theatre, operating under that name prior to 1941 and into at least 1943. By 1950, it had been renamed Gem Theatre, and it closed somewhere either in the mid-1950’s or early-1960’s, and it has since been remodeled.

Not sure where this would have been. West Hillsborough is less than half a mile west of downtown, and there doesn’t seem to be a business district. The most likely address is on W King, and none of the few scattered commercial buildings look like a theater. Suggest it be listed as demolished.
