The Gem Theatre was located in the West Hillsborough district, about 2 miles west of the historic downtown.

The Gem Theatre was originally known as the Hollywood Theatre, operating under that name prior to 1941 and into at least 1943. By 1950, it had been renamed Gem Theatre, and it closed somewhere either in the mid-1950’s or early-1960’s, and it has since been remodeled.
