The Picture House was opened on 26th June 1916, designed by T.T. Rees. It was built for J.F. Wood’s, Bedford Cinemas Ltd.

It led a seemingly uneventful life until it was closed at the end of September 1956 with “Anything Goes”. It was then used for a variety of purposes including ballroom, furniture store, and currently, a restaurant.
