- May 26, 2010 — San Diego Council approves plan to demolish Starplex theater
This cinema opened in 1990 as a Mann theater and was briefly operated by Madstone before it was taken over by Ultrastar Cinemas. In 2010, it was announced that this theater will eventually be demolished as a part of plans revitalize the center, although to-date, this has not happened. It has been home to the San Diego Asian and Latino film festivals.
It was taken over by Digiplex Destinations in December 2012, and returned to Ultrastar Cinemas in February 2014.

Digiplex Destinations acquired the Mission Valley 7 from Ultra Star in December 2012.
And in February 2014 it once again became an UltraStar theater. Why, I don’t know.

“On February 14, 2014, the Mission Valley Theater, located at 7510 Hazard Center Drive, San Diego, California became part of UltraStar Cinemas and is no longer a member of Digiplex Destinations. We want to thank you for your patronage and invite you to visit another Digiplex Destinations location when you’re nearby. The theater will continue to honor outstanding Digiplex gift cards, VIP tickets, coupons and other promotions as a convenience to movie goers in the San Diego community. Digiplex also now owns the Sparta theater since AMC bought carmike in nj.
