This drive-in was located in the small town of Grand Ridge, right near a local road called Lover’s Lane. A local resident reported that Lover’s Lane, which now terminates at US 90, once extended south to the railroad tracks and the Old Spanish Trail, and that the theater was located a few hundred feet south of US 90.

The Apalachee Drive-In was opened prior to 1955, when it was operated by J.A. & Tony Howell and ABC Theatrical Enterprises of Jacksonville, FL. This was likely a short-lived operation, and, even though the exact location of the theater has not yet been pinpointed, it doesn’t appear that anything remains of the Apalachee Drive-In.

Andy was this Drive-In at one time known as the Number 1 Drive-In? It operated from 1955 thru 1980 and was located on US 90 W.

Possibly. Where’d you find out that name? I got Apalachee from a slightly dubious list of Florida drive-ins. Whatever the case may be, this theater definitely did exist.

I got the info by doing a Bing search and that is what came up for a Drive-In in Grand Ridge, Fl.
