The Studio Europa Kino in Heidelberg is situated a bit off downtown in Rohrbacherstrasse 71. The cinema is one of the last single screens in Heidelberg and has a special old-fashioned charm. It opened in 1956, and represents a style of cinema that has all but vanished from the German scenery.
The theatre has two levels, i.e. stalls and balcony seating and has, I think, brown draped walls, which make you feel like staying at your grandmother’s place. From the balcony, which has stadium seating, you are looking steeply onto the medium-sized screen. The theatre is cosy and with 397 seats is neither too small nor too big. It specialises in upper mainstream films and arthouse production.
