The Lyric Theatre was opened November 21, 1913. On April 24, 1924 it had been renamed National Theatre and had 800 seats. On February 8, 1936 it was renamed Studio Theatre.
Following renovations it reopened as the New Roxy Theatre on December 3, 1936 with Richard Dix in “Devil’s Squadron”. In 1937 it had been renamed Roxy Theatre. It continued to operate until at least 1952. It became the Lux Theatre on December 31, 1952 and finally from March 29, 1957, the Uptown Theatre, which closed in 1958.
