The Nova Theatre was opened on January 24, 1938. It was taken over by Odeon Theatre of Canada in 1946, and was renamed Odeon.

The Odeon was closed in 1958, and Odeon Theatres built and opened their Odeon Drive-In to replace it. It was reopened by Odeon Theatre of Canada on December 9, 1964 and was renamed Totem Theatre. It was closed in 1978.

When I was in North Vancouver in 1966 and later in the 70s, there was an Odeon Totem theatre on Lonsdale, would this not be the same one? It was an indoor theater, not a drive-in.

Yes, The Odeon Theatre on Lonsdale was closed for a number of years but was renovated and then resurrected in the 60’s
as the Totem Theatre

Actually, the Totem (the renamed Odeon) remained as a part of the Odeon chain up until its final closure.

This reopened as the Totem on December 9th, 1964 and closed in 1978. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
