Located at the corner of Washington Street and Gay Street. The Colonial Theatre was opened in late-1909 or early 1910 with 275 seats. After screening movies in around 1913, it was closed for several years.

It was reopened in May 1920, and later that year a new facade was built and additional seating was provided, now seating 499, it reopened on October 23, 1920 as the New Colonial Theatre.

I have a weekly program for the New Colonial Theatre in Baltimore for the week of January 10, 1921. Other than saying that it is at the intersection of Washington Street and Gay Street, and the phone number was Wolfe 1339-J, no other information is available.

The theatre was purchased by the Durkee Northeast Amusement Co. in December 1924, with a view to convert the building to other commercial uses.
