Carmike 12

On October 20, 2011 the Carmike 10 in Missoula, which originally opened in 1997, officially became the Carmike 12. The press release by Carmike said it is one of the first in the nation with Carmike’s BigD format in one of the new auditoriums. According to The Missoula Missoulian the company installing the screen said it was 78-feet-wide and 38-feet-tall. Other enhancements include 7.1-surround sound and 2D and 3D digital projection powered by a Christie 3D flash projector. Carmike said the new auditoriums, seating 350 each, feature plush leather high back-rocking seats to provide for guest comfort. Added parking and restrooms are also part of the renovation to the now 2,014-seat complex.

Carmike has plan for more “BigD” format theaters in the future. An October 20th event, with a $5 admission for all movies, benefited the Missoula Food Bank and Poverello Center.
