Karolyn Theatre

The Karolyn Theatre opened January 18, 1911 and operated through February, 1964. It was built by Mr and Mrs. Danus Granger, whose daughter, Dorothy, went on to star in Hollywood films and was known in the 1940’s as “the queen of the shorts”. In the 1950’s, owner John Guthrie installed a CinemaScope screen. With a seating capacity of 298, it was considered the smallest CinemaScope theatre in existence. Dwindling audiences forced the theatre to close in 1964 and the building became part of Bailey’s Pontiac dealership. It is currently a self storage building.
