Opened in the 1921, the Jewel Theater was a neighborhood theater located by Whittier Boulevard and Indiana Street.

Closed in the 1960’s, it was best known for its familiar neon jewel on the marquee.

There was a Jewel Theater in Tujunga in the 1920’s, according to this photo from the Oviatt Library Digital Collection.

The Jewel was listed at 3817 Whittier on 4/9/42, per the LA Times.

An article about wall and floor coverings in the January 8, 1938, issue of Boxoffice featured a photo of the foyer of the Jewel Theatre.

I used to go inside this building back in 80s funny the stage and seats were stile there… And when they were demolishing the other side of this building there was a big painting of the coke cola sing on the side of the jewel theater i always remember the sing
