Starlite Drive-In

Virgil Pfau, a former school teacher and salesman for the General Electric Company in the Fostoria, Ohio area, opened the Starlite Auto Theatre on May 29, 1948. Virgil and his wife, Dorothy, designed the theatre which included an apartment built into the base of the screen tower. This design provided a place for the Pfau’s to live and work. They operated the theater until their retirement in 1964. Co-Operative Theatres of Ohio was the booking and buying agency for the theatre from 1950 through 1955. The Armstrong Circuit Inc. handled the operations from 1969 through 1980. I believe the Starlite Drive-In closed in 1985. It was later demolished and now it is just an empty lot.

A more accurate address for this theater is 2679 US-23, Alvada, OH 44802. This is no longer in Fostoria. This points to Pro Flo Industries located at the rear of the theater.
