Opened in October 1969 by Famous Players, the Scotia Square Cinema was located within the newly-built Scotia Square complex. It was the last newly-built single-screen theatre opened in Halifax, and had 70mm projection capability. Both this theatre and the Paramount Theatre down the street closed on October 27, 1988 – Famous Players Park Lane 8 opened the next day. At the time of its closing, it had the highest seating capacity of any theatre in Halifax. The last film shown was “The Accused.”
The space is now used as a call centre.
