The first fourplex in Carteret County, the Atlantic Station Cinema 4 opened at the Atlantic Station Shopping Center in 1985. Its initial success led to the opening of the Emerald Plantation Cinema 4 a year later. The newer theaters on the island of Bogue Banks took away business from the two older S&E/Carmike theaters in Morehead City, with the Morehead Twin closing first.

Eventually the movie business in Carteret County lost so much business that the Atlantic Station 4 closed by the end of 2010, followed by the Carmike Cinema 3 in April 2011. The Atlantic Station 4 has been re-opened under Wilson Amusements.

This theater appears to be open: its website is:http://atlanticstationcinema.com/. It is owned by Wilson Amusements.

However, the address above is not the same as the one on the theater’s website, but how many Atlantic Station Cinema 4’s can there be in Atlantic Beach, NC?

There is a picture on this webpage View link.

CSWalczak: Thanks for the info! I had found nothing on this theater on the web ( haven’t been down there in years). Glad to hear this theater is still in business! This is the one and only Atlantic Station Cinema 4 in Atlantic Beach, NC.

The Atlantic Station Cinema 4 most likely has operated continuously since it first opened back in the 1980s.
