Regal Cinemas opened the NorthTown Mall 12 on September 29, 2000. The largest auditorium in the 2,400-seat theater is said to seat 280 while the smallest about 150. The cinema was originally planned by ACT III Theatres before they were acquired by Regal.

The Spokesman-Review said the opening weekend had the second highest gross of any other 12-screen complex in the Regal chain. In terms of audience size it was number one because the highest grosser, the Court Street 12 in Brooklyn, New York, charged more for admission.
