The Olympia opened in 1917 for the Schoenstadt circuit in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, not far from the former Union Stockyards (1865-1971).
The Olympia may have been an early Rapp & Rapp design. The firm later designed Schoenstadt’s People’s and Piccadilly Theatres.
After this 582-seat house was closed in 1950, it was gutted and a neighboring store expanded into the space.
