Plaza Twin Cinemas

Located in the Plaza Shopping Center, the Plaza Twin Theatre was opened on October 23, 1981 with John Belushi in “Continental Divide” & “The Great Muppet Caper”. Seating capacities in the screens were 400 & 300 and each screen had a cry room. It was operated by Raymond Hallettt, who at that time was manager of the local B-Mart store.

Listings online show the theatre as being on 601 S. 9th Avenue, but the avenue split into two streets: S. 9th Avenue and Plaza Way. The Plaza Way address was its last known address.

The Plaza Twin Theatre was closed in 1988 after Hallett Cinemas acquired the Jefferson Park Cinemas. The Plaza Twin Cinwmas was reopened on December 20, 1991 as a discount cinema. It was closed in 2000.
