Located in the south of the city, in what today is one of the Chinese sections of Paris. The Cinema des Familles was opened prior to 1946. It was a single balcony cinema, with a large lobby. It was later re-named Barbizon.
After running successfully as a neighbourhood cinema, it was twinned in the early-1970’s and began screening Kung Fu movies. It was closed in the late-1980’s and remained dark for over 20 years, despite many attempts to re-open.
In 2003, an association organised performances in the building in order to give it a new life, but it was a short lived venture. The Barbizon was demolished by early 2013.
