The Movies was a single-screen first-run theater located at the corner of Beaver Avenue and Garner Street. It was opened May 3, 1972 and closed in 2001.

A popular spot on the uphill corner of beaver and Garner – especially on “Rocky Horror” nights. (I saw “Star Wars” and “Close Encounters” there, too.)

The Movies opened on May 3, 1972. The first feature shown was George Harrison’s “The Concert for Bangladesh.”
