East Macon Theatre

The 740-seat East Macon Theatre was opened in the early-1940’s, and was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Lucas & Jenkins. It was later operated by the Georgia Theatre Company. Closed in the mid-1950’s. Street view looks like a parking lot for the facility next door.

Any further information on the East Macon Theatre would be appreciated.

The August 12, 1944, issue of The Billboard referred to the East Macon Theatre as “…one of Macon’s leading show houses.” Jack DeVoe had just been named manager of the house, part of the Lucas & Jenkins circuit.
