The Alhambra opened in 1912. The owner was arrested by police for opening the Alhambra on a Sunday. The Alhambra was sold in 1969 to Cinema X International.

Cinema X International owned 3 other adult cinemas in Dayton. In 1970 Cinema X International renamed Alhambra the Cinema X East.

The Cinema X East was sold in 1979 and again in 1981 to Charlie McCartney.

The city closed the Cinema X East in July 1999 and it was demolished on December 17th, 2002.

Charlie McCartney who owned this cinema now owns the main stream Page Manor Cinemas with his neighbor Joe Kinney.
