The Harlem Theatre was open by 1939, with seating listed at 270. It operated as a Negro theatre. In 1948 the city cited the Harlem Theatre for code violations. Aisles were blocked with storage, the booth was sub standard and no exit lights in the rear. The Harlem Theatre closed in the mid-1950’s and has since been demolished.
