Located in the north Hamburg district of Eimsbuttlel. The Central Theater was opened as a concert hall in 1911. In 1913 it was converted into a cinema. Remodelled in 1932, it was badly damaged by allied bombs in 1943.

Later rebuilt it was open again in August 1950. Seating was provided for 556 in the orchestra and 201 in the balcony. Renovated in 1954 and equipped with CinemaScope, it was closed in 1962. In the 1980’s the building was restored and converted into a gymnasium.
