In Stroud, Gloucestershire, the Picture House, part of the Albany Ward circuit, was taken over, in September 1927, with the rest of the circuit, by Provincial Cinematograph Theatres, which itself was taken over by Gaumont British in February 1929. The cinema closed in 1932, but re-opened from circa November 1934 until circa August 1935 while the Gaumont Palace was being built. The Picture House was then demolished and replaced by shops.
