A Wurlitzer theater organ opus 914 style 109 was installed in the Ambassador Theater on 9/29/1924.

There was another theatre in Detroit called the Temple, which might be the one listed under RKO management in 1932. I suspect it was an old-timer, since it preceded the Temple in Rochester, NY, which first opened in 1909 and was publicized as “companion theatre” to the already well-established Temple in Detroit. Both were built and operated by James H. Moore, who depended on United Booking Offices of America for his vaudeville programs.

Was there more than one Temple Theatre in Detroit? This 1932 ad lists an RKO Temple in that city. According to the introduction, the Ambassador was re-named the Temple in 1945, so there could have been another Temple Theatre before that: www.i8.photobucket.com/albums/a18/Warrengwhiz/rkousa.jpg

Such a shame, all of our great theaters such as this one are now empty lots.
