Opened as a twin screen theatre on May 24, 1976. On December 5, 1980 it became a four screen theatre. The World newspaper reported in May of 2004 that Coming Attractions Theatres was expanding the Pony Theatres from 4 to 11 screens and increasing seating from 628 to 1,622. After many construction delays the theater, designed by The Design Collective, opened in 2005.

Coming Attractions had purchased the Pony Village Cinema from Regal Entertainment in 1999. Luxury Theatres originally opened the theater in 1985 and then sold it to Act III Theatres in 1989.
