Voltaire Gaumont

Located in the north-east of the city centre. The Grand Cinema Plaisir was opened in 1910. It was demolished in 1919 and the Voltaire Aubert Palace was built on the site opened prior to 1946. Taken over by Gaumont, it was given an Art Deco style makeover and re-named Voltaire Gaumont and was closed on 30th December 1969 with “Les Geants des l'Ouest”. It was soon demolished.

A bank and apartment building now stand on the site.
