The United Artists Berkeley Square 8 was opened on March 20, 1986 and operated until 1999. Seating was provided for 2,000. Studio Movie Grill opened its second Texas location in Plano on April 7, 2000, with 7 screens and 1,626 seats. The Dallas Morning News noted that Brian Schultz invested $4 million to convert the old 8-screen movie theater.
The SMG Plano offers freshly prepared dining options, premium spirits, wines, and microbrews.
In August of 2014 the Plano city council unanimously approved plans to add 4 more screens to the theater. It reopened with 12 screens and 1,100 seats on December 17, 2015.

Not a fan of this location. Decor is nice like most SMG’s but the sound is TERRIBLE! Your living room soundbar or home theatre will pump more wattage than this theatre does!
Someone heard my criticisms. The sound has most definitely been updated. I like coming here on Discount Tuesdays when tickets are just $5.
This was opened as the United Artists Berkeley Square on March 20th, 1986 and closed in 1999. Reopened as the 1st Studio Movie Grill on April 7th, 2000. Two grand opening ad posted.
