Centre Gardens and Hall

Located on the north side of Archibald Street, between Winnacott Street and Worley Street. The Centre Gardens opened on 26th December 1956 with “Arizona Sheep Dog”, “Tuna Clippership”, a cartoon “Two Headed Giant” and “The Long Gray Line”. Seating was provided for 175. There was also a 500-seat indoor Hall as well, also screenings films. The Centre Gardens closed in 1962 and the Hall in 1965.

The Centre Gardens and theatre were demolished(date unknown?) and replaced with a Woolworth’s supermarket until 2003 when Woolworth’s moved to a new site in Willagee(former Willagee Hotel site). The building is now a Red Cross op shop, Willagee Iga supermarket and Friendlies chemist.
