In Pitlochry, Perth & Kinross, it is not known when the Regal Cinema opened. It was not listed in the 1914, 1931 and 1934 Kinematograph Year Books, although the Picture House did appear in the 1927 edition and onwards. It was owned by William Waugh, but with no address. Whether that was an earlier incarnation of the Regal Cinema, which was listed by the time of the 1937 Kinematograph Year Book, is not known.
The Regal Cinema was owned by The Picture House Pitlochry Ltd. (the name does rather indicate a connection) and had 420 seats.
The 1953 edition records 500 seats and a proscenium 24ft wide.
The Regal Cinema was still open in 1966, but had closed by 1980.
By the late-1990’s the building was home to Atholl Leisure & Fitness Centre. More recently, it has become Live Active Atholl fitness and sports centre.

Further to my narrative above, the Regal was listed in the 1980 Cinema Directory published by the Cinema Theatre Association. By then, it had 400 seats, and was open during the summer season only. It was also listed in British Film Institute Handbooks up to at least 2000.
