The Rio Theatre was an African-American theatre located on the corner of Vine Street and W. 5th Street. When the Ritz Theatre burned in 1947, the recently opened Rio Theatre became a ‘whites only’ theatre until the Ritz Theatre could be rebuilt around 1950. The Rio Theatre was still open in 1955. After closing it was used by Hoskins Trucking, but is currently abandoned.
