Westview Drive-In

The Westview Drive-In opened 8th October 1970 at the corner of Mitchell Highway and Westview Street. The opening film was Clint Eastwood in “Kelly’s Heroes”. The drive-in could accommodate 550 cars. It closed in June 1984, but continued as a summer only operation until 1987. The drive-in site was still complete(the marquee sign was smashed, but still standing). The drive-in site was for sale, but no buyers after over 30+ years.

In January 2017 work began restoring the Westview Drive-In by the Dubbo City Youth Council to re-open it 7-9th April 2017 as part of the National Youth Week Program. Re-opened again October 19-21, 2018. It reopened on 1st June 2019 with “Avengers Endgame” and screened films during the cooler Winter months (June-October). The car capacity was reduced to 250.

It was closed on 2nd April 2022 and had been demolished by early-2024.

They limit sessions to 250 cars and pre-sell tickets online only, you can’t buy them from the ticket box.

The drive-in closed(permanently) on April 2 2922 with “Grease”. The drive-in has been sold(unknown who to?). The screen and other fittings have been sold. The speakers and speaker posts sand concrete bases were put up for sale on the Westview Drive-in Facebook page(n April 2022). The remaining unsold speaker posts and concrete bases were offered for people to pick in person(with your vehicle) for free(in May 2022). The marquee was sold too I think?
