Located in Chester-le-Street, County Durham on Low Chare, opposite the Bethel United Reformed Church, and just off Front Street. The Picture Palace opened on 22nd December 1919. By 1930 it had been equipped with a RCA sound system. By 1934 it had been re-named Palace Cinema.
It was taken over by the Essoldo chain on 26th February 1947. The Palace Cinema was closed around June 1960 and was demolished. A car sales plot now uses the land.
